4th Annual Carolina Clash
We ran our heat race later in the evening Friday starting P3 and made it to P1 and stayed out front. That got us directly to the A-Main on the front row. The downside of that was not having much track time except for those 10 laps before starting the feature on Saturday afternoon. I was concerned with things not being as good as they could have been with the car and going from it being a cool night to a hot day. Decided to make a few changes to see if we could get just a little more speed and I was thinking the hot temps might give us more grip.
Within the first few laps of the A-Main, we got tangled up with another car and had to go into the pits. The chain came off, bent left-front connecting rod, bent front-left shock. With some great help on pit road, we were able to get back out but now starting in the back.
I’m so proud of Logan and his “never quit” attitude. He went back at it and passed as many cars as he could and was able to make his way back for a 2nd place finish. Every pass he made the entire weekend was perfect and in the right spots on the racetrack. He is learning fast and likes to race.
I think if we had a little more track time and maybe some warmer tires, we would have had a better chance. LJ did amazing with what I gave him and could not have done better. He drove a great race! I’m still trying to figure stuff out and didn’t give him all he needed.
Congratulations to all the Winners! The Carolina Clash Is a great race and one that’s on our list. We got to meet some great families/teams that we don’t normally get to race with. I’m still amazed at how awesome this group of .25 midget racers are!
Thanks again to everyone who helped us out! Thanks to NCQMA.! Thanks to all the people who put this together! Thanks to every driver, family, vendor, official, and fan! You’re what makes this great and keeps it fun…
